Dallas Curtiss Borden

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dallas Curtiss Borden (January 2 1957 – August 27 2024) (67). Over the last two months Dallas showed courage, strength and grace while battling health complications in hospital. He never lost his faith or sense of humor. Dallas was surrounded by his family who loved him dearly, and his furry companion Audi while listening to his favorite music, when he passed away peacefully. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Summers (Donald), siblings, Wilford (Lynn) Borden (Barb Gaul), Wayne (Kip) Borden, Denise Borden (Brian Strong), and children Tara Borden (Shawn Darling), Curtiss Borden (Megan Wallace, James Leong) and Emmitt Borden (Kelsey Bennett) and grandchildren Jackson and Henry Darling (Tara & Shawn). Born in Middleton, Nova Scotia, and affectionally nicknamed ‘Beaver’, in his own words Dallas lived a "wonderful life". Finding extraordinary in the ordinary, he was passionate about music, sports, faith, and family. He met the love of his life, Kim (Nash) Borden when they were teenagers, they married and together raised three children. They are remembered most for their love and respect they had for each other. They could always be found year-round in the backyard of the family home, where they would spend most of their time together, with cold drinks, good music, and even better conversations. They never went far from their homebase but when they did, they enjoyed spending time with friends and family, beach days at Clam Harbor, and vacations spent at Folly Lake. They were an inseparable pair, until March of 2017 when Kim tragically passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Dallas continued to try to live life for them both. He retired after a long-dedicated career at Saint Marys University and continued to do what they enjoyed most. Dallas enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys and Toronto Raptors, with his son Curtiss. Learning through Emmitt about horticulture and keeping Kim’s garden beautiful; and spending time with his daughter Tara and two grandchildren, whom he loved to watch run around and play. Dallas will be remembered most for his kindness, wisdom, and infectious laugh, to know him was to love him. Dallas’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the care team of IMCU, 9A, and ICU at the Victoria General Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In a journal Dallas wrote to his loved ones; “will meet again, on the other side of goodbye”.
