Daniel Peter Lydiard

The world feels like it's caving in, and these are the hardest words I have ever had to write. Life is never fair, and it's always the best ones who are gone too soon. Daniel “Danny” Peter Lydiard, 65, born March 3, 1959, made his final transition peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2024, surrounded by his family and friends and loved ones. Dad, this was the day you transitioned into your spiritual form, releasing yourself into orbit and finally escaping the pain you’ve endured for so long. The day was warm, and the sun enveloped you, as if you were made of the same light. Daniel was the epitome of a loving and devoted husband and best friend to Sherry Lee Lydiard for 37 years, they are soulmates and "Stiiiil Together". He was the absolute best father and dad to his daughter, Lauren Ashley Lydiard. No matter how hard life got, you were always there to console, love, give advice, or simply listen. A true outdoorsman, you had a passion for deer hunting, fishing, blackberry picking with your daughter, and long scenic drives with your wife. You were a tradesman by nature, a fixer and tinkerer. An ironworker, welder, and mechanic among many other roles, you chose some of the harshest and hardest careers to support your family. You stayed strong and stoic through the torment of a horrible disease, never shedding a tear in front of Mum or me. No one can ever say you weren’t the most hardworking man, the best husband, and the absolute best dad any little girl could ask for. Now it’s our turn to support each other, even more so in this time of sorrow and mourning. Mum and I will triumph by cherishing the happiest memories of your life and the calm light you always shared with others. You have given us the strength to keep going, and we know you will always be watching over us. I’d choose you to be my dad in every lifetime. Mum would choose you to be her hubby in every lifetime you spend together. We will meet again, and you’ll be waiting for Mum and me at Point Pleasant Park, like always. Kissy kissy. I know you’re proud of Mum and me. A special and sincere thank you to our dear friends and family who have shown nothing but kindness, help, and support in these past few months. To the 7th Floor Palliative Care Team at the VG, Continuing Care, and VON: your dedicated compassion and kindness in making Danny’s final days peaceful do not go unnoticed and will never be forgotten. Bless your hearts, and may you have the strength to continue showing compassion forever. ✨
