George Dee Garnett

It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of George Dee Garnett (60 years), surrounded by family on April 2nd, 2026 at Oceanview Manor in Eastern Passage. George was Born January 8, 1966 in Halifax NS. He spent three early childhood years in Nova Scotia. Moved to Tampa Bay Florida in 1969. He returned to Nova Scotia in 1992 at the age of 26. He settled into Dartmouth upon his return. Then later moved to Lake Echo, Fall River and a final settlement in Beaverbank. George had a profound passion for antique cars, especially the classic Caprice. He loved his heavy metal music and was guaranteed to be wearing band shirts, such as Five Finger Death Punch and Metallica. George thouroughly enjoyed back yard BBQ's with family and friends, where he would be found telling stories of his younger years full of adventures. He was known for coaching Football 'Dartmouth Stingers' for the Dartmouth Boys and Girls Club. George was also proud to be part of organizing and hosting Car Show Fundraiser Events for the IWK Children's Hospital. George will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. He is survived by his greatest loves in life, his three sons. Jay Garnett, Jarrett Garnett (Michelle), Paul Garnett (Lena). And his dearly loved grandchild, Alex Garnett. His beloved cats, Maria and Link. Parents; Carolyn (Gatez) Weatherburn (Lyle)(Halifax) and George Garnett (Florida). Siblings; Hans (USA), Shane (Ontario), Travis (Ontario), Kristin, Catherine (Ontaio) and nephews Parker and Davin. Best friends Chris and Dee Lowe, Brian and Sue Tibbo and Carlin Devereaux. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Oceanview Manor, Wendy from Dialysis in Bayers Lake, VON and Home Care who helped support George for the past few years. Many thanks to Michelle for her homemade frozen meals, especially her tasty breakfast and spaghetti dishes that George enjoyed so much. If you wish to honour George's memory, please consider donating to the SPCA where he adopted Tawny and Maria. Cremation has taken place at Harbourside Crematorium. A celebration of life will be held on June 13, 2026 at Brown Hall (351 Beaverbank Rd), 10:00am to 1:30pm. Graveside burial will follow at 2:00pm, Oakridge Memorial Gardens (1078 Old Sackville Rd) under the Eagle. All are welcome to join.
