Susan Walsh (Hamblin) May 14, 1939-August 5, 2023 Helen Susanna (Susie) Walsh, Halifax, 84, passed away August 5, 2023 in the Halifax Infirmary Hospital with her daughters, Fionnghuala and Diane, and “Sister by Heart“Jill Conrad, by her side. Born on May 14, 1939 in Flower’s Cove, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elsie (Letemplier) Walsh. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all. Surviving are her daughters Diane Hamblin and Fionnghuala Walsh of Halifax, NS; brothers Tommy (Currie) and Jody Walsh, NL; sister Ann (Richard) Louvelle, Labrador, sisters Margaret Warren and Evelyn O’Brien, NL; grandchildren, Stephen and Jonathan Ash, Halifax; great-granddaughter Jada; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Theresa and Elizabeth, NL. Susan enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and meeting new people, she was a “social butterfly”. She enjoyed dining out, listening to local bands, dancing and having a few drinks. Susan was a member of the Royal Canadian Naval Association-Peregrine Branch and the Royal Canadian Legion-Vimy 27 Branch. Susan had a giving spirit to her family, friends and strangers. She served where she could; she often delivered sandwich trays to local shelters with her friend Josephine Harkin, who passed before her. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League of Canada and she helped out in the kitchen of her former local church. In her early years Susan was employed in the Food Services Industry as a waitress. She worked at the Acadia Room in Simpson’s where she made MANY lifelong friends. She also worked banquets at the Dresden Arms, Lord Nelson and CN Hotels. Susan also worked for many years at Canadian Blood Services on Gottingen Street as a Bed-Side Assistant and traveling throughout NS doing mobile blood donor clinics where she made MANY more lifelong friends. Sincere thanks to Dr. Sarah MacIsaac, Respirologist. We are grateful for her commitment, compassion and respect to our mother Susan. We also wish to acknowledge the nursing staff on 8.1 who supported Susan and express our appreciation for their compassion and ability to connect with mom as a person first, and a patient second. Mom was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. Diane and I wish to express our condolences to all of you, her family and friends, near and far, who loved her and enriched her life on her journey here on earth. She is in a heavenly body now with all her family and friends who departed before her and all the Angels are rejoicing. Mom is in the loving arms of our Savior Jesus Christ. God Bless Susan. Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Susan’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date.
