Marsden, Hunter William It is with shattered hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our son, 15 year old Hunter on January 3rd, 2024 at IWK Health Center surrounded by his family after a long and heroic battle with Neuroblastoma cancer. Born on September 24th, 2008 in San Jose, Costa Rica, Hunter lit up the lives of everyone he touched in his short lifetime. From the moment he could walk, he was always on the run laughing and playing. He loved swimming, playing on the beach, chasing Iguanas and using anything as a soccer ball, mangoes included. At the age of 2, he welcomed his little sister with so much love and always entertained and comforted her in times of need. Upon moving to NS in 2012, he became an avid soccer player with the HCU Soccer Club. He played competitive his last couple years up until just days before his diagnosis in May 2017. He also loved Tae Kwon Do, snowboarding, then the video game era hit. He mastered every game in record time, began coaching other gamers and enjoyed many late nights playing with his team and friends. Hunter was always a fierce competitor and did not accept defeat which carried on throughout his battle! He was always the jokester who kept all of us and his best buds laughing all the time despite how he felt. He never gave up and will forever be our inspiration and Superhero! Hunter is survived by his parents, Sean and Tina (Dauphinee); sister; Alex; loving lab Hershey; Grandmother; Louise Marsden; Great-grandmother; Daisy Dauphinee; Granddad; John Blackburn; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is now within the arms of his Grandfathers; John Dauphinee; William Marsden; Grandmother; Brenda Blackburn (Boylan) and Great-grandparents up above. We want to send special thanks to Dr. Bruce Crooks, Shelley Rice and all Hunter’s teams at the IWK. Dr. Daniel Morgenstern and everyone at SickKids as well. They all worked effortlessly to provide him with the best care and always finding treatments to keep him with us as long as possible. Also, our family, friends and community here and in Toronto. You have all made his battle a little easier with your continued love and support. A memorial service will be held this Saturday, January 20th at 3:00 pm at St. Nicholas Anglican Church, Tantallon, followed by a reception in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Hunter’s memory to the IWK Oncology Family Support Fund.
