Judith Eileen Dickinson

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Judith Eileen Dickinson (née Fiander) on July 4, 2026, at the age of 81. Judy is lovingly survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Doug; her children, Lynn Benoit (Donald) Montreal, Tanya Power Fall River, Michelle Flemming Sackville and Matthew Dickinson (Erin) Bedford. She was the proud and devoted grandmother of eight grandchildren whom she adored: Samuel, Isabelle, and Jack Benoit; Liam and Nial Power; Nicolas and Zachary Arsenault; and Sidney Norman. She was also thrilled to become a great-grandmother to Jude, who brought her immense joy. Born to the late William and Yvonne Fiander (née Bragg), Judy was one of thirteen children. She is survived by her siblings Cory Fiander (Joan) Fall River, Bertha Fiander (Leroy) Halifax, Gordon Fiander (Kelly) Sheet Harbour, Beverly Covey (John) Dartmouth, Melvin Fiander (Janette) Bedford, Deanna Fiander Halifax, and Leila Fiander Halifax. She was predeceased by her siblings Paulette Parsons (Doug), Bill Fiander (Judy), Donald Fiander (Dianne), Gower Fiander (Cyndy), and Valerie Fiander, as well as her nephew Troy Fiander. Judy began her career with Nova Scotia Tractor Equipment before joining Mount Saint Vincent University in August 1984. While working full-time, she pursued her education and proudly earned her Bachelor of Arts in General Studies, with a minor in Psychology and Sociology, graduating in May 2001. She dedicated 26 years of service to the University before retiring in March 2010. Judy will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, compassion, and the genuine interest she took in the lives of those she loved. She was a country music fan and an avid reader and, in years past, found great joy in writing letters to her mom, knowing she would love reading them over a cup of tea. Her greatest happiness was found in time spent with her family. She especially treasured making memories with her grandchildren, whether through visits, laughter, or afternoons spent scrapbooking together. Judy also cherished her siblings, her many nieces and nephews, and took great joy in following their lives and celebrating their milestones. Judy's gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. We wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to moms sisters, Leila, Bev and Deanna for their help, love and support, always, but especially during the past few years of mom’s illness. They have gone above and beyond and there is no amount of thank you that will ever express how much it meant to us. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Judy's life will be held at a later date.
