Judith Shirley Gordon

We are saddened to announce the death of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Judith Shirley Gordon 73, on Friday February 21, 2025 surrounded by her family, at Northwood Long Term Care, in Halifax. Judy was born on August 9, 1951 in Halifax, NS to the late William and Joan Gordon (Brackett). Judy grew up in the north-end of Halifax where she attended St. Stephen’s School and then on to St. Patrick’s High School. In grade nine, Judy had the distinct honour of representing Canada, in New York City, at a model United Nations, certainly a proud moment. Later she lived in Spryfield, where she worked at PG's Pizza in the 80's and early 90's. and went on to work in the bar industry at Giuliano's in Fairview and then the Copacabana/Coconut Grove. During this time she made long lasting friendships. Judy always had a beautiful smile and extended kindness and friendship to many. Judy was pre deceased by her father William, mother Joan, and brother Danny (Peggy Fralick). Judy is survived by her long time friend Owen Walsh, brother Glenn Gordon (Susan), sisters Aleah Gordon, Lori MacInnis (Don), son Kirk Nordfjeld (Allison), daughters Carrie Kehoe, Sandy Reinhart(Steven), and Catherine Barbour (Jeff). Seven grandchildren, Alex, Jesse, Sarah, Ben, Jacob, Paige, and Scarlett. Four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Judy's sassiness, and sarcasm will always be remembered by her family, friends, and the amazing staff at Northwood Centre, who were like family to her during the ten years she resided there. She truly loved all the staff and knew she was fortunate to have them in her life. We will always remember Judy as being a fun loving woman, as well as a strong tenacious fighter, even through her hardest struggles. She survived three strokes and a non-stroke brain injury, leaving us to believe she was like a cat with nine lives. She never gave up and was a true survivor. We would like to extend our deepest thanks to all the staff at Northwood for making the last ten years a safe and comfortable place for Judy. Staff gave much kindness and care to her, especially during her last week of life, keeping her comfortable and helping her die with peace and dignity . We will never forget and always appreciate you. A special thank you to Roger Curry, clinical manager 5 centre and his team, Siju Matthews , Nancy MacLeod, Monica, kitchen staff, whose company Judy thoroughly enjoyed and who, according to Judy, made the best peanut butter balls, and Janice Fraser who was exemplary in her kindness and friendship to Judy. You are all angels. We would like for family and friends to join us for Judy's service on Friday March 21, 2025 at 2pm , Northwood Long Term Care , 2615 Northwood Terrace, Halifax, in the recreational centre, Reverend Renee Clark officiating . Cremation has taken place by Harbourside Crematorium.
