Michael Todd Dowser

Michael Todd Dowser (February 19, 1963 – November 2, 2024) Passed away peacefully with his wife Jennie by his side at the QEII Hospital in Halifax, NS. Todd was born in Ottawa to Reginald and Jean Dowser and lived his 61 years in Metcalfe, Ottawa and Stonecliffe, Ontario before settling in Halifax, NS. Todd graduated from Osgoode Township High School in Metcalfe and later from the University of Waterloo where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a major in Computer Science. He began his career at Nortel where he advanced through various roles of increased responsibility. After achieving a successful career at Nortel, and in a very gutsy move, he and his wife, Jennie, his brother, Chris and his wife, Sarah, (two brothers married two sisters) together purchased Morning Mist, a campground and resort on the Ottawa River near Stonecliffe, Ontario. Todd was an avid pilot and was happiest when he was in the air. He was a self-taught mechanic, electrician, and general contractor, and had a unique gift for problem solving. The family owned and operated the thriving business and after 15 years, decided to sell and move on to the next new chapter of their lives. Todd and Jennie always had a passion for travel and explored several continents and so it seemed fitting that in retirement they would continue to explore the world. Todd loved spending time with family and he and Jennie hosted many special family celebrations and arranged unforgettable family travel events. Todd is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years Jennie, brother Chris (Sarah) and Scott (Trish), nieces Tanya (Greg), Tara (Danny) and nephew Glen (Angie) and families. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Wendy (Kevin), Laurie (Peter) and Terry (Gary), nieces Sarah (Jonny), nephew Joe, Lindsay, Emma, and families. Also Aunt Kay (Emerson), Cousins Kelly (Bill), Rob (Cherie), Uncle David (Wendy), and Aunt Marg (Ivan) and many other extended family members, and special friends. Todd was predeceased by his parents, Reg and Jean, and infant son Michael. Todd’s family will have a Celebration of Life in Stonecliffe at a later date. Donations in memory of Todd can be made to a charity of choice.
