Obituary for Mildred Annette “Nettie” (Campbell) Frost Mildred Annette (Campbell) Frost, affectionately known as Nettie, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born on March 21, 1935, in West Bay, Cape Breton, and later made her home in Grand Anse, where she built a life filled with love, resilience, and quiet strength.When Mom’s mother passed away, she was separated from her siblings and sent to Halifax to live with her aunt Annie and uncle George Collins. It was during this time that she began her lifelong membership with the Salvation Army, a faith she carried forward from her mom and aunts. Years later, when she returned to Halifax as a widow, she rejoined the Salvation Army community, sharing her faith once again.After marrying the love of her life, Harold, Mom became a devoted member of the West Bay Pastoral Charge, spending many days in the Black River United Church. She participated in all aspects of church life, finding special joy in singing with the choir, where her voice lifted hymns and spirits alike.Mom was a woman of simple joys and a generous heart. She loved jigsaw puzzles, long walks, reading, and spending time around a table filled with board games or cards, where her laughter and gentle competitiveness brought warmth to every gathering. Above all, she especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy. In her later years, she was blessed to live with her daughter Maxine, a time filled with love, companionship, and treasured memories.Left behind to mourn her passing are her children:Wilma Conrod (Sam), Wanda Richard (Claude), Leslie (Roberta), Alice (Steve), Donald, Jean Stone (Ambrose), Christene Timmons (Ken), and Maxine Brown (Phil).Her sisters Gloria Ferguson, Diana (Jim) Eager and Marlene (Peter) MacEachern and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.She was blessed with 24 grandchildren and 13 great‑grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Harold; her parents John Campbell and Alice (Eastman) Campbell; her siblings Myrtle, Daisy, Billy, Jackie, Carl and Marie, her in‑laws Alice, Jean, Christena, George, AC, Dave & Joe Savoie; her daughter Isabelle; and her grandson Devon.Her family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Witter, Dr. McMullen, and the ICU staff at the VG Hospital in Halifax, whose compassion brought comfort, dignity and respect to Mom during her illness.Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, the memories shared across her community, and the love she poured into the world.There will be a prayer service for Mom on Saturday Dec 20/25 at 10 am at the Salvation Army Family resource center, 328 Herring Cove Rd, Halifax. A funeral and interment service to honour Mom’s life will be held at the Black River United Church in Cape Breton at a later date.
