Rene Claude Deveau February 15, 1952 – March 26, 2024 It is with great sadness that the family of Rene Deveau announce his passing. Rene passed away peacefully on March 26th, 2024 at the age of 72 with his loving wife, Darlene by his side. He passed away at the Cobequid Community Health Centre in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia after a courageous battle with cancer. Rene was born February 15th, 1952 in Concession, Nova Scotia to the late Richard Deveau and Alix Deveau. Rene is survived by his loving wife Darlene (Smith) of 40 years. He is also survived by his brother Albain (Ella), brother Pierre (Gloria), several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by two infant siblings. Rene was well known as a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator in the Halifax/Dartmouth area for over 40 years. Rene started out with his own company, Deveau’s Backhoe Services, and then worked for many companies over the years. He loved to play in the dirt! Rene was an avid Nascar fan who could be found watching the races every Sunday. Rene also enjoyed watching baseball, and cheering on the Canadiens and yes, even the Maple Leafs. Over the years, Rene often thought about and missed his fur baby, Holly. Rene had a big smile for everyone and a contagious laugh. He was well known for his kind nature and love for his family. Rene always enjoyed spending time with his family, especially around the holidays. Heartfelt thanks to his sister-in-law Cindy and brother-in-law Ross for always taking care of his needs. Rene appreciated everything that you did for him. You always made him feel special and he loved the extra attention. Special thanks to his niece Amanda, and nephew Jeff for sending many treats to Rene during his illness, all the phone calls, daily messages, and checking in on him every night. He knew he was very loved by all of you. Special thanks to niece Nicole for always being there and for all of her help. Thanks to niece Wanda for helping with his needs and haircuts. Thanks to special friend Shelley for being supportive and helping out. Special thanks to friends Mike and Karen for always being supportive and never hesitating to help. Thank you to all of the Doctors and Nurses who took great care of Rene at the Cobequid Community Health Centre, the Doctors at the QEII Cancer Centre, Palliative Care, Homecare, and VON. Rene will be dearly missed and forever loved by his wife, Darlene. Rene will also be greatly missed by his family, friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. As requested by Rene, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place.
