Valera Mae Hunt

It is with profound sadness that our family announces that our dear Mom, Nan, affectionately known as Granny, Valera Mae Hunt, peacefully left this world to be with her loving Husband Kenneth Hunt and daughter Joanne Hunt on Monday March 23. Born on February 6th 1935, She often spoke of growing up with her many sisters and her baby brother. Sharing loving memories of her mother and father. Time spent swimming and skating in herring cove, and meeting her one true love Kenny, When he came calling for “Lillian’s sister”. So began their love story, when they married and had three children, Kenneth, Cindy and Joanne. Granny’s journey through life was met with many challenges but she faced them with great strength, perseverance and grace. She could literally do anything! She did not let her disability get in the way! She was a devoted wife, a loving mom and a wonderful homemaker,she baked the most delicious treats, butter tarts, cherry cheese cake and peanut butter balls to name some favourites. She took great pride in her home and it showed! She was meticulous in cleaning and organization. Always, always on the go, cleaning and making sure everything was just so. She doted on her grandchildren, but she absolutely flourished when she became a great grandmother. It brought her so much joy after the love of her life passed away to spend time with her great grandchildren, they filled the void in her heart after losing her husband. She was the one we all turned to in good times and bad. You could always count on her to be there for us. To worry for us, to love us. She shared in our joys and was there for us in times of sorrow. Her love was unconditional, pure and warm. She was the heart and soul of her family. To explain her loss is just not possible to put into words. She is survived by her son Kenneth(Joanne) Hunt and daughter Cindy(George) Robertson, Her four grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. As well as two sisters and one brother. Mom, Granny we know you are resting peacefully in the arms of Dad(pup) and Joanne. We will carry your love until we are all together again. We are so thankful for you. We love you and will miss you for the rest of our days. A Celebration of life will be held Sunday May 3, 2026 from 1-4pm at the lower sackville legion 45 sackville crossroad.
