Valerie Cordy

Cordy, Valerie Ann 79, Halifax. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Valerie Ann Cordy on October 14, 2024, at Hospice Halifax after a courageous battle with cancer. Valerie was kind, giving, strong, brave and maybe just a little bit stubborn! She loved and cared for her family more than anything. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, first and foremost. She especially loved her role as Nanny/Nan and would travel near and far to cheer for her grandchildren as they pursued their passions; from the hockey rink to the horse-riding arena, the gymnastics gym to the dance stage, the soccer field to the baseball field she rarely missed a game or performance. Though Valerie did not have siblings of her own, she was a self-proclaimed Cordy through and through and loved and cherished each one of her sisters (Joyce, Debbie, Patrice, Tina, Jane, Laurenda) and brothers (Bob, Gregory, Jude, Allan, and Bill) for the memories, love and support through the years. Valerie worked various jobs throughout her life from her early days at The Bargain Store to Goodwins Nurseries to making and selling baked goods, jams and preserves, crafts and ceramics with her sister, Joyce. She shared her love of crafting and baking with her grandkids and anything Nanny baked was the best and could not be matched. Valerie is survived by her son, Bill (Candi Giles), Brampton; daughters Bonnie, Halifax; Laurie (Mark Guy), Fredericton; Donna (Kenny White), Halifax. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Elizabeth (Brooklyn Beatty), Emily, Tyler, Ava, Hayden, and her great granddaughter, Charlotte. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill and daughter, Kimberly. A special thank you to the staff at Hospice Halifax for their kindness and compassion and the exceptional care they provided in her final days. We are immensely grateful to them as this allowed us to cherish every moment we were able to spend together. Cremation has taken place and to honour her wishes, there will be no funeral service. We invite her friends and family to please celebrate Valerie's memory in their own ways. We know she will be with us all in spirit. With brave wing she flies
