William Robert Squires

With broken hearts we announce the tragic passing of William (Bill) Squires, just shy of his 81st birthday. Bill joined his wife Marilyn on Jan 4th, whom he has missed every day since her passing 4 years ago. We hold true in our hearts that they are together again. Bill is survived by his daughter Kelly Ozols (Harold), son Jason Squires (Stacey), grandchildren, Alecia, Dylan and Ryan, great grandchildren, Noah, Nevaeh, and Adalyn, and many families and friends who will miss him dearly. As a young man Bill served in the Airforce, following that he worked the remainder of his career in various sales positions, until finally retiring from Coats Patons. Bill (the Yarn Man as many called him) made lifelong friends everywhere he went. After retirement and for the past 17 years, Bill spent his days working as a Commissionaire. At 80 and not wanting to sit around doing nothing (as he put it) he was very grateful his age, who had more to give was able to find daily happiness working as Commissionaire. Thank you to everyone at the head office, your kindness and heartfelt condolences meant so much to us. To those who he had the pleasure of working with, he spoke of you all with such pride and gratitude, thank you for making his days brighter. To the family and friends who were by our sides through our darkest days, words of thanks will never be enough, we are incredibly grateful for each of you. To the First Responders, the Trauma team at the Halifax Infirmary, the Nursing staff on 7.2 and the many care teams you helped get us through it all, you were able to give us 108 more hours with him. A gift of time that seems short but has not been lost on us just how precious that gift was, we are forever grateful and sincerely, we thank you. Following Bills wishes cremation has taken place with the help of Harbourside Regional Crematorium. The family will come together at a later date to celebrate the reuniting of Bill and Marilyn, 56 living years together, now together for all eternity. If you wish to commemorate Bills memory, we encourage you to take a moment and thank the healthcare workers and first responders for ALL they do. If your wish is to give in his memory, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
