Captain Harold Leigh Baker
March 31, 1948 - March 4, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of Harold Leigh Baker, 73, of Lower Sackville Nova Scotia, passed away on March 4, 2022 at the VG Palliative Care Unit. Born in Lockeport Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late William and Gladys (Townsend) Baker. He is survived by the love of his life, Isabel (MacDonald) Baker of 48 years; son Ilya Baker (Lower Sackville) and daughter Suzanne Baker (Halifax). Harold is also survived by his sister, Diane Stuart, of Lockeport and many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Leo Baker; sister, Beulah Olsen, and his Aunt Myrtle. Harold, worked on the ocean at a very young age with his father and brother fishing. He made many awesome friends while he worked at Irving, Eastern Canada Towing, and DND Halifax where he was the Captain of the Fire Bird. He enjoyed his monthly coffee meet ups with old work buddies. He was a creative sort, with his original tunes & nick names and had a great memory for detailed story telling. He loved to cook and fill everyone's belly, from tuna fish sandwiches to a big scoff. A big lover of animals and rescued many. Cremation has taken place and there will be no service to follow. Many thanks to family, friends and neighbors. As well as, the Palliative Care Team, VON, and VG 7A Floor. Online condolences may be directed to: Harbourside Crematorium www.harboursidecremation.ca
