March 10, 1948 - September 27, 2021

Marilyn Lee Cameron, aged 73, passed away peacefully on Sept 27th at the Victoria General Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit. Born in Bridgewater, to Bertram and Florence Herman, Marilyn was raised in Halifax where, as a young lady, she met her high school sweetheart and future husband John Cameron. Marilyn attended the Victoria General School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1970. Marilyn held an unwavering dedication to her calling, and lovingly served the patients and families of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on 8 West at the Izaak Walton Killam Hospital. Through nursing, Marilyn formed life long friendships with her colleagues that she dearly cherished. Marilyn was an active volunteer, dedicating her time to her church and local schools. Marilyn was an accomplished crafter who painted, sewed or knitted many adored items for her friends and family. Marilyn was predeceased by her Mother and Father, her Brother George and her infant twin daughters. She is survived by her husband John; children Kelly (Andrew) and Jay (Rosie); grandchildren Hailee, Sam and Grace, great grandson Jaxon; sister, Sandra Lavers as well as cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. There will be a grave-side ceremony and internment under the direction of Rev. Dr. Kimberlynn McNabb which is scheduled Monday, October 4th to begin at 11:00 AM in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery using the Windsor St. entrance, the burial site can be seen on the left-hand side. Marilyn’s family will be eternally grateful to the Care Team of the Palliative Care unit and all of her friends who have expressed their concerns and offered support to her and her family. Thanks, are also offered to her family Doctor, Dr. Susan Atkinson who cared for Marilyn and made the necessary arrangements to bring in an expanded care team. In celebration of Marilyn’s life, contributions can be made to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Unit, SPCA and the Izaak Walton Killam Hospital Foundation.
