Thomas Gerard GERRIOR Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

THOMAS GERARD GERRIOR, age 69 died, peacefully at Hospice, Halifax,, NS on June 5, 2022. Born July 4,1952 in Halifax, NS, he was the son of John Sylvester Gerrior Halifax, formerly of Larry’s River NS, and Mary Beatrice (née Fougère) formerly of Poulamond, Isle Madame, Cape Breton. Tom is survived by his son, John Thomas Gerrior (Amy), granddaughter Jaden, step grandson Dyson, three sisters and three brothers - Reginald (Barbara) Gerrior, Alberta; Bill (Audrey) Gerrior, Halifax; Dolores (Michael) de Repentigny, Pritchard, British Columbia; Herman (Avis) Gerrior, Truro; Theresa (Don) Adams, Halifax; Evelyn (Michael) Oakley, Halifax as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents. another brother, Thomas, in infancy, daughter Lisa Lorraine, and two sisters Verna Gionet, and Marie Bernadette Nugent. Tom served 39 years as a Nursing Orderly, Department of Nursing, QEII Heath Science Centre, working at the Rehab Centre, Halifax. He retired August, 2017. From the numerous letters of thanks and appreciation that he received from patients, and one particular doctor for which Tom provided residential full time care, it can be readily concluded that he was one of the best in his field. He was loyal, caring, committed, and dearly loved his job and the people he served. In addition to providing the physical rehabilitation care, Tom’s dry wit and humor kept his patients, entertained, happy and in great spirits. When time permitted, from his very busy work schedule, he often joined in with music and fun with his brothers and sisters, all of whom come from a family musical background. Tom loved music and played guitar and sang with a very unique and enjoyable style which was very entertaining at all family gatherings. He will be dearly missed by all his family, friends, co-workers, patients and their families . Tom always said: “ there are some wonderful people in this world” and this surely applies to all the staff and volunteers at Hospice in Halifax whom we would like to dearly thank for their superb care of Tom and for making his stay there, both enjoyable and comfortable during his fight with cancer. At Tom’s request, there will be no visitation. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Online condolences are available at Harbourside Regional Crematorium website.
