Alma Eva Boutilier

Alma Eva Boutilier August 18, 1938 – March 22, 2024 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Alma Boutilier. Mom passed away at the age of 85 on Friday, March 22, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Mom was born in Bedford in 1938. She was the only daughter of Harold Gordon Hearn and Alma Eva Hearn. Mom lived most of her life in Halifax and Bedford. She graduated from Bedford Central High School and Halifax Vocational School. She and Dad married on May 14, 1966 and began a family as well as continuing her career. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at both the North American Life Assurance Company and the American Bureau of Shipping. She also worked at Atlantic Provinces Special Education Authority where she retired in 1996 after 23 years of service as the Office Manager to the Director of Services. Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her husband Cecil Francis Boutilier. She is survived by her brother Ernest Lindsay of Bedford, children Jeffrey (Lisa) of Bedford, Scott (Heika) of Halifax, grandchildren Nicole, Noah, Nathan, Alix and Regan and several nieces and nephews especially Sonja MacDonald and Ryan Lindsay. Mom cherished her family. She said her fondest memories and greatest inspirations are of her children and her grandchildren. Mom always enjoyed attending sporting events that her children and grandchildren played and truly was our greatest fan as she cheered us on in all of our sports. She enjoyed family Christmases, BBQs, outings with friends, giving gifts to her family and watching her family develop and blossom. She also enjoyed doing crafts over the years, games with friends, practicing yoga, drawing, painting and gardening. Some of Mom's favourite places to visit included various sporting venues and swim meets in the Maritimes where she watched and supported her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time near the water in Hubbards, DeWolfe Park and Prince Edward Island where she could smell the salt air. Mom loved her family and made sure to let us know how important we were to her. She built a family on love and laughter. She will be remembered for that sense of humour, patience, tolerance and her unconditional love. RIP Mom, you deserve it.
