Bridget 'Betty' Loretta Rudge

Bridget ‘Betty’ Loretta Rudge (1933-2025) Betty Rudge, a cherished soul whose warmth and wisdom touched all who knew her, passed away peacefully at the age of 91. Betty was the daughter of the late William and Helen MacDonald (Donovan). She was raised with her late brother Michael in Big Pond, Cape Breton, before moving to Halifax at the age of 19. For 56 years, she shared a beautiful and enduring marriage with her beloved husband, Arthur. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Betty was a devoted mother whose love knew no bounds. She would have given her very heart to her two sons William (Nadine) and Allan (Lisa) without hesitation. She was blessed with two grandchildren (Ethan and Emily) and two step-grandchildren (Emma and Kayla), whom she adored unconditionally. A deeply spiritual woman, Betty’s faith guided her through life with grace, kindness, and unwavering compassion. Her spirituality was the foundation of her life, and she found peace and purpose in prayer. She found joy in the simplest of things, weaving love into each stitch as she knitted countless dish cloths—small yet meaningful tokens of her care for others. Betty’s presence was a light to those around her, reminding us all of the beauty in quiet moments, the power of faith, and the importance of generosity. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and memories. She has been known for her love of a good BINGO game and chats with her friends and family over a hot cup of tea. She spent many years as an active member of the St. Jospeh’s CWL and the Altar Society before the parish closed in 2006. Her presence was a blessing and her life lessons will live on in her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the serenity she so deeply believed in. A service to honour Betty’s life will be held 11am, Friday June 20th at St Stephen’s Church, Normandy Dr Halifax. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, St Stephen’s Church or a charity of your choice in her memory. We would like to thanks the nurses and staff on 6.2 and 7.4 at the QE2 Infirmary site for there loving care of Betty. As well as Harbourside Crematorium.
