Kevin Young

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kevin David Young, on June 23rd, 2023, but it is also with gratitude that we remember the incredible person he was. Kevin was a kind and giving person who touched the lives of many, leaving behind a lasting impact. He had a lifelong passion for education, holding a Master of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Education from Dalhousie University, a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary’s University, and was the Executive Director of the Bedford-Sackville Learning Network. Whether in the classroom or as a coach, he possessed a unique ability to connect with his students on a personal level, fostering a nurturing environment that encouraged learning and growth, and inspired countless students to reach for their dreams and realize their full potential. Kevin was a beloved family member and friend and is survived by his son Connor Young, daughter Jenni-Ann Supino (Jeff), three grandchildren: Jonah, Norah, and Evan, parents Thomas and Anna Young, sister Brenda Young (Barry), and much loved extended family in Ontario and Nova Scotia. Kevin had a deep love for sports, especially hockey and the Boston Bruins. He was a passionate fan who followed the game closely and found joy in both watching and talking for hours with his son, Connor. Their drives to and from practices, games and tournaments were always cherished moments for them both. The energy and excitement of hockey brought him immense happiness and served as a source of joy in his life. He rarely missed a hockey, football, or any sports game of Connor’s and was always there to lend a helping hand. Kevin loved his time with his daughter Jenni, and looked forward to summer visits with her and his grandchildren. Jenni’s favorite childhood memories together were summer days spent at Queensland Beach. Even though provinces apart, he was always available with a listening ear, thoughtful real-life advice, and fatherly support. Kevin had a fondness for the beach. He found solace in the rhythmic sound of crashing waves, the warm touch of sand beneath his feet, and the vastness of the ocean stretching out before him. The beach was a place where he could unwind, reflect, and connect with nature. In his memory, visit the beach and take a moment to soak in the beauty of the surroundings, feel the ocean breeze against your skin, and appreciate the wonders of the natural world, just as Kevin did. It is in these moments that we can celebrate him and cherish the lasting impact of his love, kindness, and generosity.
