SALTER, Laurise Yvonne - 85 years It is with deep sadness we write this, as our Beloved Mother “Bonnie” passed over to Our Lord Jesus on March 29th, 2026, with all of her children in last loving embrace. Born October 22nd, 1940 in Diligent River, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Sarah and George Lamb. She had 4 children, Michael (Porters Lake), Gregory (Porters Lake) Raymond ‘Kenneth’ (Donna, Gates Brook), Anne Marie (Joseph, Florida). She was predeceased in her immediate family by her loving husband Raymond and their first child infant daughter Elizabeth Anne Salter. She enjoyed growing up with her 10 brothers and sisters and played and worked in the blueberry fields while helping each other along the way. As a young lady, she worked in a millinery in Truro and also cared for her aging neighbors and family whenever needed. She married the love of her life Raymond and enjoyed 56 years together with his musical talent and song, cottage vacations and travelling throughout the Maritimes and Caribbean. Having grown up on the Bay of Fundy she loved picking and drying dulce on the beaches and sharing its goodness with everyone. With a young family, she worked at Lakeview Elementary School preparing nutritious lunches and also worked for a time as the church secretary for St. Marks Anglican church. In her later years she worked as a travelling care assistant for Northwood and all of her clients enjoyed her loving dedication, exemplary care, good natured companionship and delicious homemade favorite baking. She later retired to provide loving care and attention to her husband as he progressed with Alzheimer's, never failing to give her very best. She loved her 7 granddaughters and 8 great grandchildren dearly. She told stories of growing up in the country, enjoyed vacationing together at the family cottage and her childhood home to share all the things she loved; delicious baking and family meals, beach visits, card games and ‘old home week’ in the town of Parrsboro. She enjoyed restoring antique furniture and many of her projects remain in the old Diligent River home. Her doors were open with a smile and her ever-loved wit and wisdom welcomed everyone. She loved her many cousins, nieces, nephews and always had the tea pot on with a side of delicious homemade baking and her much loved date squares for the many friends and neighbours who popped in to visit throughout the years. Bonnie was a truly caring and strong woman who always gave selflessly to everyone she ever met. Her children and grandchildren loved her deeply and all gave their best in return to help her as her health declined these last few years. We value her qualities of which we all are grateful for as she never judged, truly cared for everyone, was loving in all her ways, and was the best friend in every sense of the word. We hope you can attend a Celebration of Life reception in the month of June in Porters Lake. Confirmation of time & place to be announced. We are grateful to her care assistants and physicians for their much valued roles in helping to keep Mom (Nan) comfortable throughout her recent health challenges.
