Pauline Ann Murphy (nee Marsh) - DARTMOUTH NS. It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Pauline Ann Murphy (nee Marsh) on Saturday October 14th, 2023, at Dartmouth General Hospital. Born on August 18th, 1964 in North Sydney, Cape Breton Island; it was a place she loved to call home and would go visit often. She was the daughter of John and the late Sandra Marsh. She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years Richard Earl Murphy and her siblings Alice, Lisa, Liam, Graham, Crystal and Sheldon, her father-in-law Harold Murphy, and predeceased by her mother-in-law Marlene Murphy - who Pauline affectionately called Mama Murphy. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Roger, sister-in-law Sherrill and her many nieces and nephews who she loved. She spent part of her life in Ontario where she met her loving husband Richard when their paths crossed when they both worked in the insurance industry. They ultimately found their home and community in Dartmouth in 2005 where Pauline worked for Manulife Financial as a Health Claims Adjudicator for over 6 years and then with the Steel Auto Group until 2018 as an Appointment Coordinator. Friendships came easy to Pauline, in particular Annette LeBlanc who she referred to as her other sister, ‘they were stuck together like glue’ and would spend weekends together full of adventures, shopping, laughter and prayers. Also Fran Hiscock, Michelle & Shaun Wells who were wonderful friends to both Pauline and Richard and their support and friendship meant so much to them both. Pauline loved to be outdoors whether it was taking nature walks, walks along the beach to listen to the ocean and she loved playing games and changing up the rules. A very special thank you to Pauline’s Uncle Roy who provided comfort, support and laughter during her illness. Additional thank you’s to Pastor Lennett Anderson, Pastor Andrea Anderson, her husband Eugene Anderson, and Minister Owen Lee who came to Dartmouth General to visit and pray with Pauline in her final hours and the members of her church community who came to show their love for Pauline. Pauline’s husband and family would like to thank the incredible medical team who took care of her throughout the last five years. Her oncologist Dr. Jay Kumar and his wonderful nursing staff, Dr. To and Marlene Stone and a special thank you to Irene Glisky - Pauline’s pharmacist who went above and beyond in helping her. Pauline was an amazing advocate for her own health. Her fight with cancer was long but she faced every difficult and unexpected turn with grace and determination until the very end. She taught us all to never give up. “Do not go gentle into that good night - Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” - Dylan Thomas. Cremation will be taking place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Parish in Little Bras D’or or the Breast Cancer Society of Canada would be appreciated to help support all the other brave individuals battling this difficult disease.
