Sean Gordon Wainwright

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sean Gordon Wainwright, who was born in Halifax on November 27, 1976 and who was taken from us far too soon on October 17, 2025 at the age of 48. Sean will be forever loved and remembered by the love of his life, his wife, Amanda, his children, son, Dylan, and daughter, Sophia, both of whom he was so proud, his mother, Susan (Steve) Hatchette, his father, Gordon (Susanne) Wainwright, his sisters, Candis (Wayne) Clattenburg, Dayna (Phen) Marshall, his brothers, Jamie (Shilo) Conrod, Russell (Trinda) Nauffts, Sean (Gabi) Hatchette, his mother-in-law, Shirley (Ian) Bentley, his sisters-in-law, Trudy (Donnie) Handy, Karen (Paul) Bentley, and his brother-in-law, Peter Joe (Robyn) Bentley. Sean was a proud uncle to his nieces, Lyssa, Lexie, Sara and Rylee, his nephews, Darren, Simon, Peter, Morgan, Jack, Noah, Owen, Carson, and a beloved nephew and cousin to many. Sean was a family man to the core and his absence will be greatly felt by all members of his large and loving family. To his many friends, Sean was loyal and dependable. Sean maintained many solid friendships for decades - notably, Ryan (Hollie) Quick and Aaron (Terri) Muise who knew him since they were four years old. He had the nickname “Skinny” affectionately bestowed on him by his good friend, Craig (Samantha) Mosher during their university days. Sean was a kind and gentle soul, who could always make us laugh with his silly jokes and funny faces with the eyebrow raised. He loved bonding over sports, primarily, the Blue Jays, Raiders and Oilers. He watched games with Dylan at home or with his buds in the garage and sometimes from a stadium seat surrounded by those same buds when they went on their many “football trips”. If any of his friends had a question about sports, Sean was their guy. Sophia loved his amazing taste in music and took interest in every album he put on. From his baseball team, The Jets, to his co-workers at Boyne Clarke, to his precious family, Sean found a unique way to bond with everyone he knew. Though his time here was short, the impact he left on his family and friends will last a lifetime. His memory will continue to shine through the love he shared and the joy he brought into the world. A Celebration of Life will take place on November 22, 2025, from 1pm - 5pm with anyone wishing to make speeches at 2, at the Lion’s Club, 89 East Chezzetcook Road. Wear your favourite sports jersey (if you have one) in honour of Sean. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, love, and support during this difficult time.
