Steven Allan Halliday

Steven Allan Halliday of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia passed suddenly into eternal life in the early morning hours of March 16th, 2025, at the age of 67. Steve was born on November 26th, 1957, in Annapolis Royal to the late Frank and Gladys (Turbitt) Halliday. Steve was ambitious from the start graduating from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Science in 1980 and continuing to expand his knowledge during the early years of internet technology. Steve had a lengthy career working as a civilian in IT for the Department of National Defense Growing up on a farm left a permanent love for nature and living off the land in Steve. He spent a great deal of time tending to the family garden. Visitors would always hear the excitement about whatever new vegetable was growing in the back yard. Steve enjoyed many sports through the years. As an avid sports fan, Steve played baseball, golf and in February of this year was awarded the honor of third-degree brown belt in Ju Jitsu by Master Zinck. Many a friendly sports wager was made in the living room of the Halliday home. While not many were won by Steve, his joy came from the laughter and banter that carried on while watching the game surrounded by friends and family. A man who could find a bargain anywhere and loved to cook. Steve could turn $20.00 into a family feast fit for a king and his family made him feel like a king. Steve’s passion was family. Devoted husband of 32 years to Sheila (MacIsaac), loving father to Christina (Dean) Arbuckle and Kimberly (Will) Halliday, Steve worked hard to ensure they had everything they needed and more. From entertaining young children with his guitar skills during the lengthy power outage of Hurricane Juan to showing up to do handy work and offer moving assistance, Steve could do it all. He enjoyed travel with his family and took great pride in watching his girls grow into successful young women. In recent years Steve was happy to expand the family and have 2 sons to back him up in a family of women. Steve spent time with Dean and Will beating them at pool but was always willing to support them in any way. He could easily hold the title of Dad Joke connoisseur. A bit facetious, one would think. Besides his parents, Steve was predeceased brother Donald, sisters Dorothy and Alice; parents in law Isabel (Edwards) & Angus MacIsaac, sisters in law Patsy & Chalotte. Steve was a dear brother to Frank Jr, Granville Beach, William (Kathie), Joan (Roland) Halliday, both of Halifax and Joyce (Grant) Halliday, Granville Beach who are left behind to mourn his passing. Steve also leaves behind sisters in law Marg Kearney of Halifax, Kay (John) May, Glace Bay, brothers in law John (Frauke) Ontario, Raymond, New Waterford, Donnie, Dominion, Doug & Ronnie both of Halifax.
