Obituary Thomas Joseph O’Hearn January 18, 1946 - March 17, 2025 It is with much sadness that I announce the passing of my lifelong partner Tom who died on March 17, 2025 at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax. Tom was born on January 18, 1946 in Antigonish to the late Patrick and Anastasia (Fogarty) O’Hearn of Canso. As a young child he and his twin sister Alice moved to Antigonish and were raised by the late Gillis and Flossie Brown.. Some of Tom’s happiest times growing up were the summers spent riding his bike and his adventures in Livingstone Cove. He eventually moved back to Canso where his love of cars led him to auto body repair. He also developed some long lasting friendships with lots of funny stories shared during his time there. In 1987 he would return to Livingstone Cove and Antigonish. After enjoying some time spent fishing with local lobster fishermen, he was a self employed auto body repairman for a number of years until joining Ron MacGillivray Chev Olds where he worked until his retirement, once again forming many lasting friendships and great memories. Tom valued his family and friends very much and believed in keeping in touch, always ready with a funny story or joke to tell, and he had a never ending supply of those! In December, 2020, Tom made his last move to Halifax where he spent his final years enjoying many car rides exploring the province. He is survived by his partner of 47 years Tish Rhynold, Halifax; son Michael O’Hearn, Middle Musquodobit; twin sister Alice Eagles, Brighton ON; brothers George O’Hearn (Lorna), Rockwood ON; Don Brown (Linda), Trail BC; Mike Brown, Antigonish; Bob Brown, Dartmouth. He was predeceased by parents Patrick and Anastasia (Fogarty) O’Hearn; brothers John O’Hearn, Pat O’Hearn; sisters Mary O’Hearn, Gloria Sampson, Amy Ryan, Kathryn Allen, Peggy Shatford; foster parents Gillis and Florence “Flossie” (MacKenzie) Brown. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service. A sincere thank you goes out to the entire staff of unit B at the VG Hospital. Your care and compassion will never be forgotten. To Tom’s family physician, Dr Martin Eckhart, thank you so much for your genuine concern and quality of care you showed to Tom. Your support and guidance will be forever cherished.
